Mastercard: your issuing bank writes the rules, not the cashier

Two players can hold cards from the same scheme, deposit the same amount at Posido on the same evening, and get different answers when they try to withdraw back to the card. Nothing about the casino differs between them; what differs is the policy of the bank that issued each card. That is the single most useful thing to understand about this channel, and everything below follows from it. Other routes are set out on the payments overview.

Funding, step by step

  1. Choose the card channel in the cashier and enter an amount from 5 000 Ft upwards.
  2. Complete the strong authentication step issued by your bank — an app approval, a one-time code or a biometric check.
  3. The balance moves on the authorisation, which is why the credit is instant even though the charge itself has not settled yet.

The card must belong to the account holder. A card in a partner’s or a parent’s name is refused on the way in, and if one slips through it becomes the reason a payout later stalls at the name-match check.

The hold that looks like a double charge

Immediately after a deposit the banking app shows a pending item. A day or two later that item may disappear and reappear as a settled transaction with a different posting date. Nothing has been charged twice — the first entry was a reservation against the available balance, the second is the booking. Because settlement runs on banking days, a Friday deposit frequently books on the following Monday or Tuesday. Reading a bank statement in calendar days is the source of most of the confusion here.

Why the return path is not symmetrical

Sending money to a card is a different type of transaction from taking money from one, and a substantial share of issuing banks simply decline to accept credits related to gambling. When that happens the request is not rejected outright: the cashier asks for bank account details and pays out over the domestic transfer rail instead. This is the practical exception to the same-method rule, and it is worth preparing for rather than discovering. The moment the redirect happens, the name on the bank account becomes the deciding factor — married names, dropped diacritics and reversed name order in a bank’s international records are what turn a routine payout into a review cycle.

The three legs, and which one dominates here

When a card credit does go through, the total reads 1–3 banking days after approval, and the composition explains why. Approval takes 2–12 hours on weekdays, 6–24 hours at weekends and public holidays. Dispatch takes minutes. Arrival waits for the issuer to book the credit, and that is measured in banking days. Card payouts are therefore the one case where the third leg, not the first, drives the headline number — and the one case where a public holiday costs a whole extra day. Everything else about the model is on the withdrawal page, and the fast alternative is the bank rail.

Currency: two conversions, no line item

The balance is denominated in forint (HUF). A card issued in another currency converts on the way in and again on the way out, with a spread of roughly 1–3 per cent applied each time. It is invisible on the statement because it is not a fee — the amount that arrives is simply smaller. A forint card avoids the whole question.

What to plan for before the first payout

Mastercard is an excellent funding instrument: fast, familiar, and protected by an authentication step that genuinely reduces fraud risk. As a destination it is the weakest of the channels here, because the outcome depends on a bank policy the player cannot see in advance and the operator cannot override. The sensible approach is to fund by card if that is convenient, and to expect the payout by bank transfer. Verifying identity on registration day removes the other source of delay — the checklist is on the registration page — and if a redirected payout runs past the published window, the process is described under complaints. Bonus balances block payouts on every channel until wagering is complete, as covered in the bonus section.

Questions about the card route

How can I tell in advance whether my card accepts payouts?
Only the issuing bank knows, and the policy is not published in a form players can check. The practical approach is to assume the payout will be redirected to a bank account and to make sure those details are already on file and in the same name.
Why do card payouts take days when other channels take hours?
Because the issuer books the credit on banking days rather than in real time. Approval and dispatch behave exactly as on any other channel; it is the arrival leg that stretches to 1–3 banking days.
Can a card in a family member’s name be used?
No. The payment instrument has to be in the player’s own name, and at verification the card holder name is compared against the gaming account. A mismatch is the most common reason a first payout is held.
